How Can Correctly Choose Crusher Machines for Ore Dressing Plant?

In ore dressing plant, the first step is usually ore crushing, hence, selecting a suitable type and specification of crusher machine is very important for improving  production efficiency of ore dressing plant. Factors influencing selection of crushing equipment are mainly physical properties of the ores like hardness, density, viscosity, clay content, moisture and so on, handling capacity, product granularity, equipment configuration, etc. The crushing equipment can be divided into coarse, medium and fine types. The largest ore block of coarse crushing equipment is generally not more than the 0.8 to 0.85 times of the width of crusher feeding port. While that of medium and fine crushers is generally not more than 0.85 to 0.9 times.

1. Selection of coarse crushing equipment

The coarse crushing equipment of metal mine concentrator is usually jaw crusher which is most widely used or gyratory crusher. In some non-metallic or cement industries, when processing medium harness or soft ores, we also can use impact crusher. In designing large and medium ore dressing plant, when selecting coarse crushing equipment, we should carry out technical and economic comparison such as installed power, equipment weight, infrastructure investment, production and operation fees, device configuration, advantages and disadvantages of technological operation so as to determine to use jaw crusher or gyratory crusher. while designing medium and small ore dressing plant, in order to adapt to large size of ore block of quarry plant, we should use the coarse crusher which is suitable for sizes of ore blocks.

Advantages of jaw crusher are simple structure, light weight, low price, easy maintenance and transportation, reliable work, convenient adjustment of row ore mouth and so on. When crushing wet ore or ore containing more clay, it's not easy to jam. Disadvantages of jaw crusher are easy abrasion of lining board, low handling capacity compared with gyratory crusher, uneven product granularity, etc. Generally speaking, the jaw crusher has wider application, which can be used in large, medium and small ore dressing plant. Merits of gyratory crusher are low power consumption, continuous crushing, high handling capacity, even distribution of abrasion of lining plate in crushing cavity, even product granularity. Demerits of gyratory crusher are heavy body weight which requires s a solid foundation and high machine body which increase height of plant. What we should pay attention to is that taking ore receiving of both sits when using gyratory crusher in large ore dressing plant so as to improve handling capacity of crusher and make abrasion of lining board even.

2. Selection of medium and fine crushing equipment

We generally use cone crusher including single-cylinder hydraulic cone crusher as the medium and fine crushing equipment when crushing hard or medium ores. While select short-head cone crusher as the fine crushing equipment. When crushing especially hard ores, we can use super-heavy cone crusher. While crushing brittle materials, we use roller crusher, impact crusher and hammer crusher. Advantages of cone crusher are large crushing force, light weight, small external dimension, low price, large production capacity, big reduction ratio and so on. Disadvantages of cone crusher are the manufacturing of hydraulic system and bearing structure of dynamic cone is relatively complex. Merits of roller crusher are simple structure and easy manufacturing. Disadvantages are easy abrasion of roller and low handling capacity.
